Objectives

This KA1-project was one further step on our way to the very ambitious goal to become a "European" school- not only on paper but by living the European idea. All participating teachers have gained new experiences through job shadowing and training sessions in different European countries and thus increased their intercultural competences. They furthermore improved their language skills by attending Spanish, French and English classes and they got new ideas from other countries about implementing ICT for a modern and digital classroom. All activities were based on the idea of connecting intercultural competence and language skills with vocational education. We saw a significant gain for our everyday work, for our motivation and that of our whole school community. Although the project was interrupted by the pandemic we have managed to maintain long-term international contacts and to establish ongoing projects and exchanges. The pandemic showed us that personal contact to other teachers and students is the most important pillar for a "European School" and that we will strive to extend our European programme even further.

Background

We regard intercultural and media skills as core competences of vocational schools that want to be successful in the future. Our world is getting more and more internationally connected and that is why the idea of a united Europe is one of the pillars of our "European School". Transferring that idea into our classes is very critical for us. It has been and still is one of our essential goals to prepare our students for the professional, social, technical and cultural challenges of the 21st century in the best way we can. Our students as well as our teachers should embrace the idea of a united Europe and we be equipped with the skills that enable them to contribute on forming strong bonds between the different countries of our union.
