Objectives

A primary goal of this European mobility was to support the existing special education staff. This relief can be achieved with educating the regular teaching staff in how to recognise the diverse needs of the pupils and to demonstrate good classroom management. The aim was to combine special needs education and inclusion.

Background

One reason for carrying out the Project was the training of skills with regard to classroom and conflict management as well as inclusion. These topics are particularly interesting for special needs teachers and social workers. Unfortunately, we still have a shortage of staff in this area. In order to support our special needs teacher and the two social workers, the regular teachers should undergo further training. The courses should equip the teachers to solve everyday conflicts and challenges with the heterogeneous pupils on their own. At our school there is a so-called "multi-professional team". This team supports the teachers in dealing with difficult pupils in pedagogical and educational issues. The team is able to look at a problem from several angles and then intervenes or develops concepts for dealing with it. We did not want to offer basic training to the members of the multi-professional team, but to enable them to expand and reflect on their existing skills and knowledge. Therefore, it was of central importance to include vocational counsellors, special needs teachers, school management and social workers in the acquisition of knowledge.
