The highest possible education of the entire teaching staff concerning the implementation and application of digital media for pedagogical and subject-specific goals in order to be empowered to perform modern lessons in response to the new challenges of an increasingly digital world both in the European context and on a global scale. This kind of teaching must be up-to-date and guide students towards the challenges of an increasingly digital workplace. Furthermore, the teaching staff needs to be trained to conduct new, highly motivating forms of teaching, for instance through the implementation of gaming components or elements of artificial intelligence.
In view of the ongoing process of the digitalization of education, which has seen increased urgency through the acquisition of student iPads and the implementation of electronic Whiteboards in the classroom, it was of the utmost importance for us as an educational institution to provide and educate our teaching staff in the pedagogical and effective application of digital apps and websites. As digital natives students frequently possess a basic digital competence. However, these need to be directed and schooled towards an optimization of working processes in the educational environment. Due to the Covid pandemic and the temporary phases of distance learning the urgency of an education of all teaching staff and the student body increased exponentially. For this reason, the envisaged teacher training programs came at an absolutely opportune time, which endowed us with the possibility of dealing with the challenges of the day and of reflecting and enhancing them afterwards.
