Based on ongoing school development processes, the following goals emerged at the beginning of 2019: 1) We wanted to use the motivations of our colleagues (CaC) that had arisen through E+ KA1 and KA2 projects, to integrate European activities more firmly into school life. 2) We were looking for ways to bring European learning and European project work into the individual subject areas and subjects and to anchor it there. 3) European and in-school project management should be professionalised on an individual as well as on an institutional level, for example in the E+ coordination, but also in the area of school management. 4) We wanted to intensify existing contacts and establish new ones. 5) We wanted to deal with the heterogeneity of our student body as well as the difficulties of individual students in a more professional way. E+ activities should become less exclusive and more inclusive. 6) We saw the urgent need to develop and build up digital competences in order to understand digitalisation not as a value in itself, but to use digital tools to be able to offer targeted support to students.
We have carried out this project "Strengthening People" against the background of our Christian-European mission statement, our certification as a European School of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the existing and ongoing E+ activities. 1) In 2019, even before the pandemic, the MBG set itself the goal of strengthening the individual so that colleagues (CaC) and pupils (PuP) can develop according to their individual abilities. Even as a rural grammar school, we were already confronted with an increasingly heterogeneous student body at that time, where individual difficulties deserve greater attention. 2) From our experience with various school partnerships, Comenius and Erasmus projects, we know how much depends on the constant cultivation of contacts and the further development of the staff who fill these contacts with life. 3) In addition, we already recognised at that time how great our deficits are in the area of digitalisation. Since we see ourselves as a place of learning and encounter in Dierdorf and within Europe, the staff and the school management wanted to work together to promote school development within a European framework.
