The project implemented the expansion of bilingual subject teaching in STEM subjects as an educational policy requirement of the Council of Europe, OECD, KMK and StMUK in the consortium and aimed to expand the theoretical competencies acquired at the ALP with practical teaching components in the context of European exchange. The paramount idealistic objectives were to strengthen the European competence of the teachers as well as international understanding, broadening of horizons and the reduction of prejudices through intercultural exchange and international networking. Cross-curricular learning and the further development of linguistic competencies were just as much in focus as the expansion of teaching competencies by getting to know the school systems, teaching models, methodologies and learning traditions in STEM teaching in other European countries. The mobilities should continue in the long term in international partnerships that keep teachers and students in Europe in contact with each other.
As the central training center for teachers and management staff of all types of schools in Bavaria and as an authority subordinate to the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, the ALP is optimally networked and in constant exchange with both the education policy centers and the schools offering education. Conception, coordination and organization of further education projects - also in cooperation with international partners - are core competences and main tasks of the ALP. The participation in and organization of Erasmus+ consortia is thus a consistent continuation of the implementation of the ALP's educational mission. It has special competence and resources to coordinate consortia in European educational projects and also sees it as its mission to relieve the Bavarian schools in project administration. This Erasmus project arose from the "Qualification course in English for teachers of Physics, Biology and Chemistry", which was carried out by the ALP and enabled colleagues to teach STEM lessons bilingually at their respective schools.
