This 2-year project aims to develop a functional model of an alternative wind generator for power generation. The wind drive of a fan (model construction) causes a resonance band to vibrate with a magnet that induces a voltage in a coil. In the first year, the following work will be planned and carried out: 1. the development of the circuit diagrams, 2. drawing the components with CAD programs and 3. the calculation of the metal-technical statics. The participants use the laboratory, classrooms and workshop rooms of the participating facilities for this purpose. In the second year, the model is practically completed and evaluated according to quality criteria. The focus of the project work in Germany is on the development of the circuit diagrams and the necessary working modules. In Italy, the generator will be manufactured as a model and its possible applications tested in practice. It is intended to organise the contacts and the project work in each year of the 2-year project period with one group of pupils per partner of up to 13 pupils, 2 supervisors and a group of approx. 4 teachers in exchange. The partner institutions are responsible for the exchanges in their respective countries. The activities are divided into 4 main areas and are subject to the following methodology: Main area 1: brainstorming Exploring the technical possibilities in the field of wind energy (University of Turin, Technical Museum); Analysis, discussion and definition of technical specifications and parameters as group and partner work of German and Italian students. Main area 2: Planning and preparatory work and analyses Start of the practical implementation of the model. To this end, mechatronic aspects in particular will be jointly researched and planned by both international student groups. For this purpose, the technical focal points are examined in more detail in the form of circuit analyses, and the static-mechanical design fundamentals are calculated and drawn. This is done with the participation of local technical universities and companies. Main area 3: Implementation of electronic and mechanical submodules Includes the design and optimization of the PCB layouts for the electronic modules jointly by both partner organizations. International cooperation and language promotion is ensured by the formation of working groups in which German and Italian students work together. Intermediate results of the individual working groups are presented and discussed among themselves and in front of other classes of the partner school. Main area 4: Module composition with final assembly, commissioning, test run with fault and optimisation analysis After ensuring error-free operation of the submodules, the final assembly of the wind generator begins in the respective working groups. The previously jointly developed error avoidance strategies are intended to sensitise the working groups to optimised quality assurance, which will give the participants a practical understanding of quality management and DIN EU ISO 9001 standardisation. In the foreground of this quality analysis is the comparison of existing country-specific norms and standards and the identification of already existing uniform QM standards within the EU.
Due to the massive restrictions caused by the Corona pandemic, only one first student exchange from Germany to Italy took place as scheduled in October 2019 for 2 weeks. Thus the project was started as planned. The project groups and the project implementation were planned and the participants could get to know each other. The technical basics, the plans and the preparations were worked out or carried out in the Italian school. In each case 13 German participants and an Italian technician class worked out basics in soldering, construction, technical drawing with CAD modules, laboratory work and energy concepts for different alternative energy generation methods. For this purpose, a lively practical preparation took place in the laboratories and classrooms of the Italian partner institution, in which tools, processes and technologies for the construction of alternative wind generators took place. For the practical knowledge transfer 2 company visits took place. Once the concept of the alternative energy production over the pumped storage power station Enel in the intalienischen sea Alps took place and further a small solar and wind power park was visited, which is not so common in Italy, as in Germany. The focus was on the advantages and disadvantages of the implementation of these energy sources. We organized project material, learning kits and small tools, which were not or not sufficiently available in the Italian school. Partly software (e.g. learning programs) was procured, which can be used together as class license. Also the cultural excursions, which were carried out parallel during the stay, were booked by us in the apron (e.g. visit of a stalactite cave, visit of an olive oil enterprise with attached museum, exploration of the historical old part of town of Monaco and a historical excavation place). For the organization on site, introduction and support of the new school management in Italy, a preparatory visit was carried out, which brought together the supervising subject teachers, the interpreter and the school management in order to coordinate the course and the ideas.
