Objectives

The project has three objectives: The participants of the BvB project (vocational preparation project) should be given the opportunity to leave their familiar surroundings to meet young people from the nearby neighbouring country and the other way around the group from the Netherlands gets the opportunity to meet it´s young neighbours in a new way. Away from the language hurdle and difference the focus is put on possible similarities and a common discovery of the youth language and the young life in the city of Groningen. The hosts should have the chance to meet young people from Germany who are in a similar life situation between school and occupation. These young Dutch people also belong to the group of disadvantaged. The goal for the participants of the host country is to introduce and present the relevant facilities, attractions, squares etc. of the „young Groningen“ from their point of view and to discuss them with the German young people. Secondly the youth language as a participants´s topic is supposed to give another approach to work on topics like „understanding“ and „perseption“ on their own way and to overcome possible separations that may have occured in the past through for example a lack of language skills. The third aim is that this first meeting should serve the feeling of “wanting more” meaning that the idea of a return meeting in Leer (Germany) arises. Supported by the staff the participants should find connecting elements between the two nationalities through the joint activities and the subsequent exchanges. In addition, the German/Dutch perspective should be expanded towards an European perspective and discussion.
