The lack of motivation by young people to be involved in community development is one of the ongoing challenges of contemporary society. Disproportionally, this especially effects disadvantaged groups, already being at the risk of social exclusion. Development of stronger communities is highly interlinked with an increase of active citizenship and development of social capital that leads to an improvement of wellbeing and even health of its individuals. There are several methods to increase the role of youth in social life of community and one proved to be successful and innovative way is participatory community art method. Community art activities allow participants to engage with art in a unique personalized to each individual way. Participants are able to experience different forms of artwork that also reflect the needs of current community. Community art brings together all collective ideas and initiatives through creative and artistic actions fostering positive change in the society. Participation and active involvement of all community members in the creation process is an essential element of success and development. Each member is included in the process with the forms of art expression they feel comfortable and competent. Community art is different from public and urban art with its participatory and social change components. The proposed TC “YOUthArt - Supporting Community Development” aims to gather 27 youth workers and youth leaders on 20-29 October in Dilijan, Armenia from E+ 8 countries to multiply the potential of community art methods in youth work.
