The training for youth workers "Whose city is the city? Ours! -Strengthening youth participation for social city development ", which will take place from 21.-28.7.2019 in the youth education center Kurt Löwenstein, deals with the question of social urban development and the possibilities of social and political participation in these processes. In recent years, an intensive discussion has developed about the orientation of urban development policy, which can be summarized under the claim "right to city". Since the 1990s, urban policy has predominately lead by ideas, which leads to social displacement processes. often described as gentrification. Our training aims to qualify young youth workers to initiate and implement youth participation projects for social urban development, and to integrate the issue of urban development more closely into their respective local youth work. In order to strengthen the social participation of young people in the sense of a right to city, we would like to convey to the participants basic knowledge and methodical tools for designing such processes. The training should also provide ideas for addressing young people who are not interested in politics, provide a forum for professional exchange and contribute to the planning of youth participation projects in the field of urban development by means of an ideas workshop and at the same time motivate them to become sustainably active in this subject area.
