The project’s objectives are: - promoting PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT of young people by enabling them to learn new skills, take initiatives and critically assess different ways of living, - NETWORKING YOUNG PEOPLE interested in sustainability and *ecovillage life at European level, - enabling ecovillages to reach out to larger numbers of young people and increasing YOUTH INVOLVEMENT in ecovillages, - enabling young people to explore various EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES at ecovillages, - promoting EUROPEAN IDENTITY, as a way of preventing national extremism This is one of several Youth Exchanges (YE) organized by the international project ‘Yes to Sustainability’, that has been growing very fast since its start in 2017. It will be the second edition of the Youth Exchange which took place last year in the Zegg ecovillage. In 2018 the project “Youth on Earth: Yes we (c)are” was submitted by ecobasa e.V. This year’s application is submitted by the ecovillage Zegg itself, since the president of ecobasa e.V. is on parental leave. However, the coordinators of the project remain the same as last year and are still in close connection with ecobasa e.V, which will use its channels and networks to promote the project and communicate its outcomes. This YE project has a consortium of four partner organisations from four different program countries: Spain, Italy, Germany and France. It was initiated in 2017 in Germany during a seminar for youth workers and group leaders and representatives of national ecovillage networks, coordinated by Sieben Linden (German Ecovillage). The aim was to create more projects involving young people in Ecovillages (EcoV). After the first and very successful implementation of the YE, the project managers Elena Rivière Feder and Stefanie Görisch apply hereby for a second edition of the YE. The project programme has been improved and adapted taking into account the feedback and evaluations from last year. Compared to the previous exchange, there will be a stronger focus on the networking aspect. The participants will have even more opportunities to present their personal projects and to seek cooperation among them. The Zegg EcoV appreciated the dynamic of previous YE very much and would be happy to host young adults from Europe again. Like other EcoVs, Zegg also has a lack of young adults and is highly interested in bringing young people to the EcoVs and in promoting intergenerational exchange and education. From the participants side we also received a very positive feedback and the wish of a continuation. The partners work in the field of education for sustainable development and are all part of the EcoV movement. *An EcoV is an intentional or traditional community that is consciously designed through locally owned, participatory processes to regenerate social and natural environments. There is currently a raising interest among young people in sustainability issues in general and specifically in EcoVs and their holistic approach to a sustainable lifestyle.
