Objectives

Turkey has become a centre for refugees and immigrants between Asia and Europe, between poverty and wealth, between emigration and immigration countries, between states in political, economic or war crises and conflicts. Social work should play an important role in this area in order to be able to help precisely these target groups. From a legal point of view, however, social workers* in Turkey hardly play a role in the area of flight and migration. In this sense, international contacts and exchanges of experience are of great importance in order to discuss how social work is legally anchored in the field of action in other countries and what theoretical and practical concepts it has developed. Especially cities like Diyarbakir have become important stations for arriving refugees. But also in cities like Berlin or Marseille, social work has had to adapt to arriving refugees in recent years. Since this is usually not controllable, those working in the social field often face great challenges. In most cases, no additional financial resources are made available for the social sector, although it is urgently needed. The idea of this training cycle is to show the participants the approach of the "Diversity" method, as well as to try out other intercultural methods. "Diversity" aims to recognise the heterogeneity of identities, but also to understand the related questions of power and dependence. Participants should learn to recognise resources in otherness, to endure differences and to find and use similarities. Goals of the phase in Berlin: o By means of a theoretical input at the beginning of the seminar and subsequent discussion, the participants will be taught the history of immigration and the social conditions in Berlin. The current situation of refugees will be taken into account. o Workshops and intercultural exercises will deepen the topics of diversity, participation and inclusion. o Getting to know the social realities in Berlin through project visits to various social organisations and exchange with local experts. o The idea of youth exchange is communicated and promoted through an idea exchange. o Participants should continue to be supported in working intensively with each other, so that sustainable relationships can develop that make it possible to work on joint projects beyond this seminar. o The participants should be enabled to compare and reflect their attitudes and knowledge about the three project countries and about the social situation on site by means of intercultural exercises. o Work on a common method book for the application in social work and non-formal education.
