The project takes place in the aftermath of the European Parliament elections which will take place at the end of May 2019. The ninth direct elections are special because the EU is facing major challenges. With the rise of the right-wing populists in many parts of Europe - for the first time in the history of the EU - a political force is emerging which fundamentally questions the project of European integration. Therefore, the elections in May 2019 are trend-setting. One of the most frequent criticisms of the EU is that the 'bureaucrats from Brussels' are too far away and that European politics is too intransparent and difficult to understand. It is true that the political system of the EU is unique - as unique as the confederation itself. Europe needs more intercultural exchange, more mutual understanding and understanding for each other! Europe needs a critical examination of the important future issues & Europe needs a vision for the future! And that requires young people with a vision. With the 'EU (nited) for Active Citizenship' training course we want to strengthen our commitment to the common European idea and make the European Union more accessible. The training will promote European citizenship, European awareness and participation and aim to enhance the skills of participants in these areas, focusing specifically on the structure and role of EU institutions and decision-making in the EU. The focus is on modeling the European Parliament. The youth workers will be familiarized with the informal modeling and simulation methods and will jointly optimize the methods and the parliamentary modeling so that they can transfer and implement them to their own youth groups. In addition, youth workers have the opportunity to exchange across borders, learn from each other, get involved and contribute to shaping a new Europe. The project will explore the concepts and perceptions of citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular, their contemporary meanings, dimensions, understanding and uses. The project will also address the lack of informal educational material on active European citizenship in youth work and the active involvement of youth workers. The overall objective is to promote active European citizenship in the light of the European Parliament elections taking place. Specifically, the project aims to support the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders in order to provide them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to organize and carry out activities at local, national or international level that aim to empower young people Citizenship, the European Union and participation. This will directly promote European citizenship, European awareness, European identity, European values and active participation. Awareness of active European citizenship among young people and local communities is heightened. In the run-up to the European elections in 2019, we will help tackle the major challenges, strengthen commitment to the common European idea and make the European Union more accessible. Development in the local community is also promoted as youth workers learn dialogue and decision-making strategies. These tools, in particular the modeling tool, can be transferred to other everyday situations and thus have the potential to contribute to conflict resolution and democratization on the ground.
