Throughout Europe, Extremism, discrimination, majorization, nationalism is plaguing communities and setting great divisions between people. Citizens are forgetting about the common values we as humans living together in society have such as tolerance, integration, inclusion. With this project we want to promote those values, to discuss them with the participants and to share the message by learning about new media methods such as Podcasts, Zines and Newspaper Theatre performance pieces-each mediums which are accessible to create and disburse to the public. They can express their opinions, educate others and share with youth in their own community. We seek to examine the threats democracies are facing nowadays concerning the rise of radical and violent politics and the ways in which media-particularly Podcasts, Zines and interactive theatre- can contribute to combating intolerance, prejudice and violent movements which escalate radical nationalism. This youth exchange combines stories, new media tools and active citizenship to empower participants to use newly acquired skills and reflection of radicalism in societies in order to do work and contribute to positive effective transformation during these changing times. Youth need to learn how to be critical and not passive users of media content and how to be their own producers of information. The main objectives are to: -inform and reflect on the evolution of media, how to have critical access to them as creators and critical users of content -how to contrast the spreading of brutal ideologies, extremism and online hate speech that spurns societies -to reflect on how media forms and projects prejudices encouraging divisionary dynamics and intolerance and how it is possible to contradict negative effects -to recognize the power of identity and individual voice through the creation of Podcasts, Zines and Newspaper Theatre pieces.
