The basic idea of this project is to connect and motivate young people to work together within a clear and structured platform towards a defined goal: Go and create together your own short videos about the topic of Active Citizenship. We aimed to address the exploration of possibilities in the context of new media and social networks in the field of 'Active Citizenship' and create a tool for cooperation, communication, dissemination, acquiring information, and spreading the message. The main target was to improve participants' soft skills and understanding of the concept of 'Active Citizenship'. We want to give them an understanding of new media as a medium for the expression of opinions and participation. Another important aim of self-development was to increase the self-esteem of the participants. We accomplished this through these four steps: self-expression (scriptwriting), cooperation (filmmaking - teamwork), self-actualization (achieving the goal), empowerment (being held responsible and accountable). We aimed to improve learning, social and civic engagement, and sense of initiative, as well as to promote participation in democratic life in Europe, including active citizenship and intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, to promote diversity, solidarity, inclusion, and critical thinking among young people. The young people were made aware of European Values and learned about the theme of Active Citizenship through their experiences of being together in the YE's. All participants lived together, learned from each other in order to be a self-sufficient community, and gained new perspectives by coming together with different intercultural groups. They also became more independent and improved themselves as individuals and developed their own thoughts while coming up with new tools to express them. By implementing the project we wanted to achieve: - Exploring possibilities of new media and social networks in the field of Active Citizenship, - A tool for cooperation, communication, dissemination, acquiring information, spreading the message, - Developing skills of youth: Realizing our role and our potential as a youth to make positive changes in regards to greater intercultural understanding, more respect, solidarity and active tolerance at our communities and importance of involving young people in it, - Providing the wider picture of how non-formal learning works, how it provides an opportunity to develop crucial competencies and why it is important for the active involvement of youth in society in order to promote sustainable development, - Empowering youth to improve the quality of their work by becoming active promoters of intercultural learning and multipliers of intercultural dialogue with their friends (young people). - Becoming more aware of their own identity, culture, stereotypes, and prejudiced behavior patterns and realizing how it affects on ‘new media’: Working with the main theories and concepts related to intercultural learning and intercultural dialogue competence (diversity, active tolerance, inclusion-exclusion, mechanisms of stereotyping, prejudices and discrimination).
