The "Junior Ambassadors for European Civil Society" project aims to organise two intercultural youth encounter cycles between four European countries. Two of these countries are Member States, and moreover, founding States of the European Union: France and Germany, two countries are recognised candidates: the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In these four countries, the European Union is viewed differently: in France and Germany, Euroscepticism has risen sharply, while in the Balkans, citizens are frustrated and disappointed by the continuing deadlock in the rapprochement process. This fact has driven us and our partners to set up a transnational project to promote the cohesion of our European society. Together we have been working for years on the implementation of international projects that are based on intercultural dialogue and social commitment of young people. In addition to the objectives of this intercultural encounter, which is characterised above all by learning through exchanges with other young people, as well as by discovering new cultures and ways of living and thinking, acquiring social skills and developing critical thinking, the selected topic should make it possible to address the following objectives: o To simplify the comprehensibility of the European institutions in order to make them more accessible and to have a better overview of their functions. In our experience, this is done by actively involving young people in the planning and implementation of individual activities, in order to make the project as participative as possible. To this end, we will offer participants creative and innovative methods that will enable them to better understand the European institutions and thus make them more accessible to young European citizens. o To promote the active participation of a young generation in the construction of the EU and to encourage participants to participate and take initiative. With a view to the major European events that will take place (European Festival, European Elections, etc.), young people will be offered the opportunity to find out more about the theme of civic engagement by making use of digital and artistic materials. Accompanied by professional guides, the young people will be able to make their voices heard thanks to creative productions, which will then be presented to a wide audience. o To present the results of the encounters to as many people as possible in order to reach people outside this project. To this end, we will organise a large public event in Marseille in the second phase of the project. This event will make it possible to reach a wide audience, which often has very limited access to discussions on European issues. The aim of these events is to prepare non-participating citizens for the EU elections in 2019. Participants will be actively involved in the organisation of these events. All project results will be disseminated via the respective social networks of all participating partners and made available to the institutional contact persons in order to inquire about their attitudes.
