The objectives of the Equality Now (to be implemented in July 2019 in Bakuriani, Georgia) are the following: -To raise awareness among youth workers about gender-based violence towards women -To raise professional capacities of workers by giving them specific methods and tools so they will be able to carry out their own projects about women’s empowerment in their local communities - To increase knowledge of youth workers about gender equality and women’s rights in different cultures - To make youth workers reflect upon their own ideological and cultural background regarding the women’s rights - Exploring the potential of youth work in preventing discriminative, violent and radical behaviors among young people - Establishing a network of like-minded organizations and individuals who are interested in the further exchange on the topic of promoting gender equality - Developing a concrete plan for follow-up projects and local activities focusing on promoting gender equality All the objectives are linked with the objectives of the Erasmus + Programme in the field of youth. The training course shall improve the competences of youth workers who implement projects addressed to young people at risk of discrimination due to their cultural/religious background. Participants will have an opportunity to learn practical methods of working with their beneficiaries and they are expected to create and implement follow-up projects in their respective home communities. By giving participants tools for enhancing social inclusion, the project is strongly promoting anti discrimination and social inclusion, preventing the growth of radical and violent behaviors trough young people. By exploring the potential of non-formal education in the gender equality and women’s rights context, the training course will improve key skills of youth workers, which shall help them raise the quality of projects they develop. As the project is addressed toward organizations from both EU and Eastern Partnership countries, it will enhance the international cooperation and high quality of their international projects. After this training course youth workers will be able to carry out their own projects with the tools, approaches and information they will be given during the training course. In this case, they can raise awareness about equality, spread information and increase participation of young people as well as specific target groups like; women in rural areas etc. Apart from this, some of the workshops will be dedicated to storytelling, where participants will create their own video stories in a way that will be informative, catchy and influential. As a result we can have a progress in digital competences too. In a long term perspective the project shall result in an increase openness among youth workers.
