With each camp following its own objectives, the overall project aims: - to help young people clearly understand the role of media in today’s world; - to assist youngsters in developing their critical and analytical thinking capabilities in the post-truth era; - to promote pluralism, freedom of press and freedom of expression; - to address the issue of hate speech online between the participating countries - to combat populism, radicalisation/extremism, censorship and propaganda in Germany, Ukraine and Russia; - to encourage youth to critically analyse current national and EU affairs; - to empower youngsters to create their own independent media outlets/products and further promote critical thinking among their peers; - to create intercultural learning moments among the participants and between them; - to enhance participants ́ ICT skills. A1 - The Summer Camp in Weimar: Germany seeks to introduce the participants to the theories of media and communication, addressing need of young people to learn how to question the role of media outlets in the times of conflict. The practical part of the camp will include the workshops on tools for critical analysis of text information, including fact-checking. The issue of hate speech will be also brought to attention of the participants, recognising how young polarised minds can easily violate human rights online. A2 - The Autumn Camp in Krasnodar, Russia will be focused on graphical side of the information communication, inspecting photographs, collages and posters published in the media. With the help of an expert from the educational comic project "Respect", the participants will work with graphic materials, collaborating on a common album of "Decoded Media". A3 - The Winter Camp in Kharkiv, Ukraine will respond to the need of youngster to look behind video reporting and create their own news pieces, using the knowledge from the two previous exchanges.
