Objectives

Youth unemployment is a pressing and global problem. ILO estimates that, on global level, over 600 million new jobs need to be created by 2030, just to keep pace with the growth of the global working age population. That means cca. 40 million new jobs per year need to be created. ICT is the only industry that can satisfy those growth needs. Between 1995 and 2015, the ICT sector in the EU improved its performance, according to most indicators, more than the whole economy and tripled in value added during the period of last 20 years. Young people want to learn and develop their ICT skills and put them into use in entrepreneurial context. Not many similar opportunities are offered for free and in such international environment where they can also learn from their peers from other countries. Youth workers need to be able to improve their skills and methods in order to develop more attractive programmes and transfer their knowledge in a way that contributes to youth employment in their communities. One of the building blocks of the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 is to improve youth work through practical toolkits and capacity-building activities. In line with that, our project objectives are: - to understand the potential of entrepreneurship and growth of ICT industry in reducing youth unemployment (current market trends, drivers and relevant factors, target group, potential niche and available resources) - help youth workers to develop an entrepreneurial mind-set and relevant soft skills - to develop entrepreneurial learning culture in youth work and promote ICT entrepreneurship among young people in partner countries - to provide youth workers with necessary knowledge about digital start-ups and SMEs, how to establish one, and to analyse the existing opportunities of the ICT industry - to enable them to detect and identify marketable ICT skills that can be turned into livelihood and teach them how to be actively engaged in digital workplace - broaden their understanding of practices and methods used in training and youth work regarding ICT and entrepreneurship by sharing good practices from partner countries - to achieve multiplying effect in target countries (youth workers equipped with new skills and competences will further transfer that knowledge to young people in their community) Main goal of the project is to understand and utilize the potential of ICT entrepreneurship which will contribute to improving youth employment. The objectives are in line with a focus area from E+ Guide 2019, - equipping youth workers with competences and methods for their professional development, including for digital youth work and enhancing their sense of initiative.
