LØS' purpose with the European cooperation is to enable the Danish development of learning in and about ecovillages. This includes: - to build capacity to accommodate the growing need for education within the unique holistic approach of the ecovillage design education. - to gather inspiration and motivation for the continued development of the ecovillage educators - to expand the educational platform within the ecovillages - to enable more jobs within education in ecovillages in Denmark and internationally - to support professional educators and enhance quality of education - to support and enhance capacity within LØS as an organisation to carry out the educational strategy.
The Danish Ecovillage Association (LØS) is the national association organising ecovillages and eco-communities on a national level in Denmark. Since 13 years, LØS has had a focus on creating education for living in ecovillages. The Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) thus comprises of five main areas creating a holistic approach to life: The Social dimension, the Ecological dimension, the Economic dimension, Worldview and Organisation. The EDE is a four week course and run through the GAIA education network, including ecovillages with an educational platform in Denmark. To strengthen education in EDE as well as all its related subjects and teacher trainings the strategy is to encourage and support teachers to further their knowledge and skills. Because of the international character of the ecovillage movement there are many interesting places and people, organisations and educational platforms around Europe that are very suitable for Danish ecovillage educators to learn from. The Erasmus+ programme is thus very appropriate for LØS and a perfect support for its international education strategy.
