Objectives

"STORYLAND- using storytelling for intercultural dialogue" is a youth exchange project that aims to promote and raise awareness on the cultural diversity of Europe by using stories as tools for passing on experiences and greater understanding of each other. Through art we can meet each other, and the encounter between two human beings as nothing else but humans, is the most important encounter of all. But in the modern, fast time of living, do we give enough space and attention to the basic human encounters, the encounter with the other? Do we provide enough quality learning opportunities for our young people to experience the diversity of perspectives, backgrounds and views every person can have and every culture can reflect? And what would be the most open way to do it? Our answer is, through the use of our stories and tales, the cultural heritage that was passed among generations to remind us what is important. The main objectives are : - to foster intercultural dialogue and exchange of values, experiences and realities - to enhance the intercultural communication and intercultural competences of young people by using storytelling and theater as tools - to promote storytelling and the use of arts as powerful tools for intercultural learning - to offer space for creativity and artistic expression - to create safe environment for working on the topic of personal and group identity, group belonging and group stereotypes - to create an opportunity for networking and contact making among participants and youth organizations Young people have to be supported to go out of their comfort zones and to experience cultural diversity and develop multicultural sense of belonging especially in this period of strong change of our cultural environment. The not-known triggers fear and rejection. Although all in Europe, we all have our micro-cultures. In the year of European Elections we want to go back to the very basic roots on which Europe was created; cooperation, respect and tolerance.
