EU`s 2020 strategy puts a significant role upon young people creating jobs, growth and sustainability within Europe. Youth make up one fifth of the total population in Europe and thus its future prosperity is dependent upon them. Although It can be seen that young people are leaving schools too early and are at greater risk of being unemployed and marginalised. Youth unemployment rates in the EU are generally much higher, even double or more than double, than unemployment rates for all ages (Eurostat). The rate of young people aged 16-29 years at risk of poverty or social exclusion in the EU was 28 %, or 21.8 million young people, this situation is resulting in high economic and social costs for member states of the EU. In 2017. Within Europe further actions need to be made to improve young people's opportunities for education and employment. They need the right support and environment to nurture their personal development and right opportunities to become the new generation of leaders, creating jobs, growth and sustainability within Europe. In this context, more attention needs to be paid to innovation among young people and peer to peer learning as both a route to employment, and a source of educational and social empowerment. Reflecting upon ways to enhance social cohesion in Europe, as well as to enhance youth employment, the partners see social entrepreneurship an effective alternative to foster young people's transversal skills and empower them to be socially engaged and ultimately be leaders of positive changes in their societies. The aim of this project is to strengthen the capacity of youth organisations to foster young people’s responsibility for their social environment through leadership, and at the same time tackle social issues through a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst Europe’s youth. In order to achieve this aim, the partners have formulated the following objectives: 1. To strengthen capacity of the partner organizations and their youth workers to promote a culture of social innovation and entrepreneurship among young people 2. To enhance capacity of partner organizations and their youth workers to develop in young people a sense of leadership and peer responsibility; 3. To foster the cooperation between youth organizations and social enterprises in order to promote social innovation and entrepreneurship among young people 4. To strengthen the network between youth organizations in Europe for the benefit of fostering social cohesion amongst youth. In addressing these objectives, the project is in turn addressing the following needs that are common amongst the organisations involved in the project: - a strengthened capacity to support the personal development of young people, in particular their and leadership qualities and sense of civic responsibility; - strengthened capacity to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people in Europe, as a means to reinforce their role as future leaders of change in society.
