Objectives

Even though we believe that we have achieved gender equality, if you ask many women how they live nowadays in Europe (and in the world) we will realize that we are far from living in an equal world. We are witnessing harassment of women every day, domestic violence, gender based discrimination is part of our daily lives, and many young women are raised in a patriarchal society where they are being told not to follow their dreams because they are women and they need to take care of their families! As young women living in Eastern Europe we are living this reality, where day by day you are being told that you cannot achieve something because you are a woman, or if you want to have a career that means that you cannot take care of your family or have children. This is why we wrote this project. We want to carry out this project to address these issues and use the chance to empower young women to fight for their dreams and pursue the education of their choice and the career of their choice. We would like to do this project to prove that WE CAN DO IT! We can bring the change in our lives and our communities. We can fight for gender equality and equity. We can stand against gender based discrimination. In order to achieve this goal we would like to use film as a tool to fight for women’s rights and to create short film for young woman empowerment. So in this way we want to promote film as a tool for activism. We want to motivate the young people to be activists about the issues in their societies that they want to change. By attending this youth exchange the youth from the participating countries will gain new skills about using film and storytelling as a way of activism which they could use in the future. The other issue we want to address is youth unemployment - with this project we want to promote photography and film as skills that any youngster can acquire and that can lead to finding a job in this creative field. We want to use film as a tool for youth activism and to provide our participants with this tool for their voices to be heard all over Europe. During the working days of the project the participants will create short films on the topics gender equality, woman rights, and woman empowerment in general. The main AIM of this project is to raise awareness about women’s rights, fight against gender based disctimination and use film as a tool to promote the use of storytelling and short films as tools for activism. With the implementation of this project, we want to achieve the following OBJECTIVES (link with the E+ objectives): • The participants to gain more knowledge and developing new skills regarding discrimination, prejudice, stereotypes of women. • Promoting an anti-discrimination, inclusive speech and approach of young women on every level • Developing skills in creating stories, reviews, essays, workshops, videos, presentations and informational campaign for promoting women rights • Encouraging young people’s active participation in society, especially to empower young women take an active role in their communities Encourage youth to fighting against sexism and gender based discrimination; • Promoting the use of storytelling as a tool for getting attention and transferring your message to the world; • Providing the space and tools for the participants to gain new digital competences and encourage them to use these skills to get employed.
