With these mobilities our aim was to continue and consolidate the results Tietgen has experienced, in particular: Tietgen is keen to further develop mobility effects that have proven to go closely hand in hand with the needs and objectives for the various study programmes that we offer: 1. Tietgen Business: Students’ internship and international practical training and trainee or apprentice contracts; 2. Whole Tietgen organisation: Teachers’ shadow learning in search for best practices in learning styles, learning facilitation, guidance activities etc. 3. Whole Tietgen organisaion: Staff’ shadow learning in search for broader understanding of practices around systems in education across countries incl. solutions to the ever-chancing profiles of special needs.
The overall aim of this project - SMIIHO (Student and staff Mobility for Increased Internationalisation HOrizons) - was on the one side to possibly closing (due to Brexit clauses) our learners study and practical training tour to London. The London study tour was through many years a very successful collaboration with a really dedicated agent. On the other side the political situation of Brexit and negotiations for Erasmus had promoted the urgency of re-thinking the most popular student destination. Thus, like many times through history, a situation of crisis prompts innovations. the aim, towards renewal and progression, this is where we applied with a focus on Ireland and Dublin as a platform for starting future collaborations of the (English) study tours. Furthermore, also as a destination for shadow learning our aim was to learn more about possible collaborations in a native English-speaking country like Ireland. And as a way to further diversify; our very positive but still small-scale collaboration with German schools was to be taken to a higher level thanks to this project. The plan was to exchange teachers first and followed by mutual student exchanges with VET school in Bamberg (BS3) as well as Norderstedt.
