The aims of the learning mobility project are: 1. The renewal of the teaching module for the fields of humanities and economics. Through this process, courses which deal in practical activities and cultural specificity will be brought in teaching modules. 2. Experiencing cultural specificities in Europe; learning from it, and applying the best praxis in Valga, the Estonian-Latvian border town. 3. Education workers gain work shadowing experience in the teaching methods and equipment used by teachers in partner schools. The experience will be used in classroom and to conduct workshops to colleagues in our own school. 4. Education workers’ partnership meetings will prepare the cooperation of schools for student mobility project according to their field of study, to contribute to the development of the curriculum of Valga Gymnasium, and gain practical experience in cross-cultural communication. 5. Enhancing the competitive advantage of Valga Gymnasium, thus contributing to the development of better education landscape. 6. Developing teachers’ cross-sectional professional competence, and gaining cross-cultural experience.
As a state secondary school, Valga Gymnasium is a mentor school for others in its region. We have passed on new knowledge to schools in the county as much as possible, both to teachers and students. Having been a member of UNESCO Comprehensive School for more than a decade, the schools mission is to provide students with best choices and perspectives for the future in todays changing society. Consequently, the school is in the process of changing the content of its curricula, particularly by adding additional cultural subjects in the fields of humanities and economics, in order to broaden the opportunities and world view of the students of Valga Gymnasium. The project is important as the school is located in a region on the periphery of Estonia, from which both residents and students are likely to be prone to leaving. Aimed at European school-to-school cooperation, the project will increase the awareness of cultural differences among the participating teachers, where the practical experience as well as gained knowledge will provide the teachers of Valga Gymnasium with valuable knowledge and skills to pass on to their students. The teachers involved in the project will enhance their cross-sectoral professional competence, integrate their international experience into school life while also gain sufficiency to be ready to contribute to the schools development plan/curriculum. Based on Valga Gymnasium vision of noticing and engaging every person for self- development in the modern world and the current situation, it can be argued that this project is necessarys it creates an opportunity for teachers to learn from the practices and experiences that are already in place in partner schools. Initiation of a new project agreed with IES de Valga School 2023.
