Through our participation in the program we wish to: - develop and improve professional skills as teachers - learn new active and participatory pedagogical techniques that focus on communication, collaboration and creativity of our students - contribute as much as we can to reduce the early school leaving of children who are disadvantaged or have been bullied at school - we contribute to the spirit of internationalization and peaceful coexistence of our societies - to evaluate ourselves among our European colleagues and to become better in quality - to acquire new professional skills and apply them in our school - to appropriate and promote the European dimension in our educational work and in the wider society - to adopt internationally successful solutions to our local problems - to enrich our pedagogical experience and to improve the quality of our school work.
We requested our participation in this educational program because we believe that its subject matter (Teaching and communication in the classroom - Quality improvement of the provided education - Learning through research) are important for the work that we try to offer to our students, in the special conditions of hospitality and learning at the same time, within the hospital. At the same time, the goals of the program related to early school leaving, the fight against school failure, the adoption of new methods and pedagogical practices, with the aim of improving quality are also our goals. Of the approximately 400 students who are admitted to the pediatric clinics, every school year and we teach, the majority are students from immigrant and refugee structures, children from the Roma community, children from the wider province and children who are "hospitalized" by order of the prosecutor, until a suitable hosting structure is found. For that, early school leaving, livelihood problems, school bullying and school failure are found daily in our educational environment. At the same time we have the opportunity, due to the nature of the hospital school, to have direct and long-term cooperation with the parents, in order to strengthen their positive attitude towards education and to strengthen their self-confidence that their child can do it. Our desire was (and always is) to learn new techniques and methods, good practices and successful solutions, to work with colleagues from schools in other countries, to exchange experiences and pedagogical views, to become better, in the new European educational framework, where everyone we will coexist and work together peacefully and creatively for the common good. Our desire is to become active members of the European pedagogical ideal through creative collaboration with our colleagues, from as many schools from other countries as possible. Creative comparative and pedagogical practice will highlight solutions to our common problems, thus making each school a strong positive force for quality creation in the school community and in the local and wider community.
