The main purpose of our plan was to achieve a comprehensive and holistic reform. It was an ambitious vision and a demanding venture that made Kolymvari Junior High School definitely oriented in the future, with a clear picture of its identity, capabilities and available resources, and with the support of all its members in such a way as to provide quality education. The objectives of a) upgrading school facilities, b) improving the functioning of school and of teaching by incorporating good practices from the successful Finnish education model, c) strengthening the prestige of teachers with the necessary soft skills in order to reach their high mission, and finally d) opening and internationalisation, seem to have encouraged the further development of Kolymvari Junior High School and to have redirected the process of its transformation into a school with European dimension on a solid educational base.
The development action plan of Kolymvari Junior High School included four learning mobilities of teachers on themes related to the overall improvement of the quality of school education. It was formed by the perception that students are at the heart of the teaching process and the ascertainment that teachers have the ability to act and to be responsible for promoting changes which meet the challenges of our time. A key aspect of our project's framework was the European Added Value that was eventually acquired by Kolymvari Junior High School and the promotion of European citizenship among its teachers. In addition, we took into account the participants' need for lifelong learning, widening their intercultural horizons, creating incentives in the workplace and strengthening their self-confidence.
