Objectives

The objectives of the project are analyzed as follows: A. Utilization of new teaching methods and tools The school teachers already used interactive whiteboards and ICT in their daily practice. Since the school has 10 tablets, 8 Lego WeDo 2.0 robotic kits and 5 EV3 ones, it was necessary to make full use of the existing school technological equipment. Recognizing that educational robotics is a dynamic pedagogical method, with the appropriate training they could apply the innovative forms of teaching that it offers, making full use of digital tools and looking for modern activities that will be integrated in their teaching, facilitating learning and becoming better themselves. users of new technologies. B. Improving the technological, collaborative and language skills of teachers In order to utilize robotics kits in everyday teaching, it was necessary to improve the technological skills of teachers and their appropriate training, tailored to their personal and professional needs. To this end, the present project included an introduction to basic concepts of algorithms, a first introduction to robotics kits, and then an organized training in teaching practices using robotics. Also, teachers' collaborative skills and their English language skills would be enriched both during the mobility if they worked in working groups with teachers from all over Europe and beyond as they would have to look for and study new approaches. from partner schools. Finally they should get used to the terminology of programming and robotics in English. C. Enlarging the European dimension of the school unit Broadening the European dimension of the school through the participation of all teaching staff in European mobility actions would be possible if, as citizens of the European Union, school teachers developed personal relationships with other European teachers and exchanged good practices and experiences both as a consequence of the present project and in other future partnerships. D. Organization of teaching-learning By participating in the project activities, teachers would gain new stimuli and skills to implement a more modern way of organizing teaching. Having as a basic teaching technique the "Problem solving", on which robotics and computational thinking (Computational Thinking) is based, they could teach children the logic of the algorithm and the creation of a sequence of commands (code) so that their construction (robots) executes and solves the respective problem. The teaching of science - natural sciences will be improved to the maximum extent, as long as students apply the didactic concepts in practice, working in groups, creating and receiving immediate feedback without conventional memorization.

Background

First of all, this project was a continuation of previous European Erasmus + KA1 and KA2 programs, which our school has already implemented, and concerned the use of new technologies and ICT in education. The reasons for which we applied for this project were related to the improvement of the professional skills of the teachers of the school unit, something that has been a constant and conscious need for all of us and already been proven by the previous actions of the organization. Specifically, through the actions of this project, we sought to acquire and improve digital skills in educational robotics, so that more teachers in the school feel adequate and able to use school robotics equipment and integrate robotics in their teaching. In the field of European mobility and cooperation in particular, we aimed to develop teachers' collaborative skills either through on-the-job monitoring activities or through participation in training programs. We also sought to upgrade their communication and language skills in the working language (English) as a result of their participation in mobility and collaboration activities with organizations abroad. Through the exchange of good practices and the observation of pedagogical methods in collaborating schools and organizations, we focused on the evolution of the special professional skills of teachers in order to meet their modern role.
