The goals of our involvement in this project were to gain more self-confidence, to stimulate our language and social skills, to enrich our cultural experiences and to strengthen our professional profile as teachers. At the same time, we sought the acquisition of additional digital skills, the cultivation of our communication and educational skills, the better organization and qualitative upgrading of our teaching, as well as the renewal of our teaching practices with the more effective integration of digital media into our teaching. Our aim was also to get to know successful European practices, strengthen them with innovative ideas, stimulate the mood for innovation and upgrade the knowledge provided to our students, so as to renew their interest in the course, activate creativity and increase their participation in the learning process. On the whole. our desire is to inspire and be inspired by our colleagues who are active in similar programs.
Noticing the ever-increasing trend for the integration of ICT in education and serving in a provincial school on an inaccessible island of the Aegean, where the possibilities for renewing teaching practices and getting to know successful European practices are not always easy and possible, as a teachers' association we considered it necessary to acquire new digital skills and to integrate them more effectively into our teaching involving as many as possible of our teachers in this process. We wanted to benefit from the rich European experience by drawing valuable information about the organization of work, teaching methods, technological means, collaborative practices, openness to community, which we only knew partially and fragmentarily due to our personal awareness, engagement and experimental application, in order to surpass the inherent difficulties and to benefit in multiple aspects.
