The objectives of the program were: Firstly, our acquaintance with the new teaching method "outdoor education" through seminars and secondly with Job Shadowing in a school that uses outdoor activities in P. E lessons and other teaching lessons . This modern pedagogical-teaching method will offer an alternative and modern approach to physical education, and other courses. With constant feedback and by using new innovative methods and modern teaching tools, we will improve our teaching skills and the students participation at school. At the same time, when students take lessons in countryside, their environmental awareness is achieved. Collaboration with the Thermo Environmental Education Center will impart important ecological values whivh they need to preserve them. Another goal was also the implementation of KA229 programs with a corresponding subject, in order to moderninaze and give European extroversion in our school.
The teacher’s association of the High School of Thermo took the initiative to participate in an Erasmus European Program for the first time aiming to gain European orientation and to modernize its teaching methods by adapting them to the special needs and the potential of the school, the social and the natural environment. Due to the lack of such experiences, we had to look for European programs, in order to improve not only teacher's but mostly students’ skills, who are the citizens of the future, concerning the management of information and the resources of knowledge in the modern society, that the school is meant to serve. In the specific rural area with a low socioeconomic profile for many of our students, haven't equal educational opportunities compared to the children of big city centers. European Programs can offer them, selfdevelopment and evolution opportunities. We have imagined the development of a wider plan which is feasible and realistic, with one ultimate goal, to connect school and society and to reform the area into a center of sport and recreation activities.
