Objectives

The GOALS of the Program are: • knowledge of drone applications in agricultural crops • their use in the management and forecasting of production (cultivation, sowing, fertilization, application of formulations, harvesting) • collection of information about the state of the soil, water and microclimate • correlation of the findings and organization of an action plan for fertilization, use of pesticides, etc.

Background

The project entitled: "Management of an agricultural holding using Drones" is a special innovative specialization related to the needs of the local labor market. In the field of agriculture, the use of drones (helicopters/planes) is gaining more and more ground, since the great benefits they offer are recognized by more and more farmers around the world. Participating students understood the whole farm management system using satellite positioning remote sensing data and its collection. These are sophisticated technologies aimed at optimizing the efficiency of production factors and potentially reducing environmental impact. With the development of this sensor technology, information is collected about the state of the soil, water and microclimate, resulting in the saving of resources and inputs, supporting the sustainable development of the agricultural business. The project involved 22 students of the Informatics and Agriculture majors who, with two companions, went to Italy for 16 days to the organization PROFAGRI SALERNO. The educational content of the program was determined based on the local specificities, the needs of the students for access to a particularly innovative training content related to their specialties, but also the promotion of the educational work of the 1st EPAL THIVAS.
