Objectives

Through the implementation of mobility, we aimed to bring about significant changes in our educational institution, in students and teachers, and in society, both local and global. As for the trainees, the aim was to broaden their knowledge, develop their personal and professional skills, gain valuable work experience in real working conditions and, at the same time, form a well-rounded personality and strengthen their identity as European citizens. As for teachers, the aim was to follow closely the developments in the European labour market by updating their knowledge, to become more effective in their work by upgrading their skills, to learn about new technological tools and become familiar with technological developments, to get acquainted with new professional methods and practices. For the school unit, the aim was to develop its extroversion through cooperation with European organisations and professional bodies as well as joint problem-solving. At the same time, to consolidate cooperative and constructive interaction by adopting innovative practices and drawing on European know-how. In addition, the aim of the project was to consolidate and promote values such as respect for all beings, equality and freedom of speech, giving the school a more social and humanistic character.

Background

The 1st Vocational Lyceum of Lechena (1st EPAL of Lechena) has realized the importance of developing actions and innovations that will ensure the quality of the technical-vocational education it offers, the professional knowledge and skills required to enter the modern labour market. At the same time, it is aware of the need to promote lifelong learning, to monitor European labour market developments and, above all, to prepare its students for integration into European civil society. The strengthening of the European spirit and the development of cooperative relations with other European countries were also important reasons for submitting the mobility project. For all the above reasons, our school unit designed and implemented the mobility project in the host countries, Cyprus and Spain.
