With the implementation of this project, we have set ourselves the goal for the beneficiaries: - Acquisition of skills, knowledge, abilities and attitudes that will contribute to the improvement of their personal development, employment opportunities and career prospects as a logistics leader in the labor market. - They improve their learning performance and understand for themselves that this is necessary for their professional career. Dropping out of school and social exclusion, which directly threaten our border region, are combated in this way. - Cultivate a collaborative spirit and teamwork, take initiatives and encourage enterprise by experiencing real business and work environments. - Gain a stronger personality and greater self-esteem in relation to their field of study and their future employability. - Improving foreign language skills (English and Italian) and increasing intercultural awareness. - Active participation in modern European business environments and adaptation to real working conditions. - Gain great experience from the implementation of a European program and increase the motivation for their future participation.
We submitted our project entitled "Internship in Logistics" because we believe that the logistics sector knows and will continue to experience continuous growth, as it is an essential sector for the smooth operation, profitability and good image of a company. The basic principles of logistics are a set of supply chain management functions through which the flow and storage of goods, services and related information occurs from point of origin to point of consumption. In this chain, the logistics staff is responsible for the effective organisation, coordination and control of the flow of goods and information. Based on the above positions, we have this two-week concept for 14 second and third grade students (as a practical exercise) in companies that use logistics systems or that are purely logistics companies. The main objective of the internship was to gain professional experience in the specific field and to support them in her future career with the aim of becoming a manager. The development path of this sector in our country and especially in our border line region, given the direct connection with the markets of North-Eastern Europe and the planned development of the port of Alexandroupolis to become the third largest after Piraeus and Thessaloniki, poses new challenges for logistics managers. Of course, taking into account the above, combined with the continuous development of technology and information technology, this implies the absolute need for education and training of these new leaders who will contribute to easier access to the labor market and fight against unemployment and social exclusion. At the same time, training of the beneficiaries in companies in this sector in another European country, such as Italy, fills the gap in the possibility for similar internships in our region. Although activities are already emerging at this level, there are still many difficulties, particularly in finding qualified staff. The specific project was implemented in March 2022 in the city of Rimini, Italy, after a two-year postponement because of the ban on travel abroad due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The obligatory full vaccination of the participants also led to a diversification of the composition of the originally intended group of beneficiaries, exclusively from the 2nd and 3rd grade at the economics department.
