Background

Inclusion and active participation in community life of the socially disadvantaged groups has always been HAEA’s focus. Our organisation aims to highlight the adult education’s central role in social inclusion. The refugee crisis has made evident that including refugees in the economic and social life of a country needs suitable educational interventions which must be characterized by the elements of bespoke design and implementation. All the EU countries, as recipients of refugees or migrants aspiring to a safe and better life, need to design and carry out actions that will benefit them as well as their indigenous population in order to realise their multicultural, egalitarian and human rights and values. Today’s adult educator has become the primary person of trust of his adult learners and the listener of experiences, testimonies and needs of his learners. Thus, our project aimed at the upgrading the educators’ needed competences in intercultural understanding and communication, empathy concerning the learners’ experience and emotional management, while networking with experts from other disciplines and institutions and contribute to the design and implementation of long-term multidisciplinary and community based actions.
