Creative YouthLand and its partners, have been working with youngsters for many years. It was commonly agreed by all participating organisations that in recent years, there has been a turbulent situation due to the large migratory wave, the violation of human rights-including in specific those of the LGBT community and the women, and a further marginalization of already marginalized social groups. “Metis” youth exchange was created to show young people that it takes solidarity, tolerance, acceptance, inclusion and communication to be wise and vigilant and transform their societies into wise societies. Combining non-formal education activities and arts, participants were encouraged and empowered to act against discrimination, racism, sexism, bullying and exclusion, to become active citizens and bring social change. “Metis” main objectives were: -Integration and Social Inclusion: Arts form one of the main non-formal methods that are used in achieving integration and social inclusion. Nowadays, due to great youth unemployment, the refugee crisis and the rise of extreme right political parties and ideologies, the integration and social inclusion of young people, regardless of their origin, race, gender, professional or any other status seems to be a crucial factor that affects their well-being. -Intercultural Learning and Intercultural dialogue: In times of big immigration flows from countries of Middle East to Europe, the first step to coexistence is being aware of different cultures and the elements that form them. In our project, cultural awareness, helped participants to understand the special features of the processes happening in the sphere of Arts in different countries and get ideas about cultures that interact and influence each-others in the daily life in order to get a deep cultural understanding and empathy. -Teamwork and Cooperation: One of the major factors in non-formal education is the self-awareness which, in its turn, is being used in teamwork and cooperation. Through effective teamwork and cooperation, meaningful results were produced at the end of the project and fulfilled all the objectives of activities taking place within it. It also helped to improve cooperation between all the people and organizations involved in project realization and create internal network for implementation of the same type projects in the future. This objective had been carried from the very beginning of the project - from communication with partner organizations to the last evaluation of the project and event that happened in the town of Egio. In line with this objective, our partners and young people who participated in the project had already been involved and they were involved into all the phases of the project flow. - Use art to raise awareness and enhance solidarity actions among the members of our societies. Participants prepared a multi-artistic performance which was shown to the local community at the public event that was held on the last days of the youth exchange at the central square of Egio. - To transform participants into active citizens. Through non-formal education activities and arts, participants learned that it is a matter of will to become active citizens and that there are a lot of very creative ways to move towards this direction.
