Background

“Giner de los Ríos” León High School is a public school. Secondary students are characterized by a great multiethnic and multicultural variety. This includes ethnic minorities and in recent years there has been a progressive increase in immigrant students (some war and political refugees) who come from Eastern countries, Latin America, Africa and Asia. The curricular level of ESO students, in general, is low and their degree of interest in the classroom is insufficient. There is an increase in absenteeism rates and, as a consequence, subsequent school dropout. Both the management team and the school teachers have always been involved in seeking areas for improvement for the students, trying to respond to their needs, addressing the challenge of diversity in the classroom, participating in different activities and projects. In this line of joint work, in order to maintain a permanent improvement in the quality of teaching, we applied and were funded with 3 Erasmus+ projects, two KA101 and one KA229. Through teacher training in a European dimension, we aim to achieve the modernization and internationalization of the school, while promoting equity and inclusion of its Secondary students.
