The intention of our school carrying out this Erasmus project was within the scope of teacher training in the use of new technologies and in the application of new methodological approaches for the bilingual and foreign languages subjects. Furthermore, our aim for the incorporation of the school into European programmes in order to contribute to the achievement of the objectives set by the European Union regarding Education and Training played a significant role in the decision of accomplishing the present project. The objectives established for this Erasmus KA101 project by our school San Francisco de Asís were the following: to promote lifelong learning by training teachers in digital matters, reduce the intergenerational digital divide, increase creativity and innovation, promote mobility and competence in foreign languages among teachers so that they could transmit students the need and curiosity of communication and the esteem for other cultures creating an awareness of European identity, bring new methodological approaches to bilingual and foreign language teaching and foster the creation of international contact networks.
The Project “ I WANT TO BE EUDIGITAL NATIVE” emerged from the need to eliminate the digital gap between teachers and students so that they could achieve a proper level in digital competence and could become digital natives. Our aim of promoting the linguistic competence and getting started with our involvement in European projects was another reason for this project proposal. In the last decade, San Francisco de Asís School has been immersed in important changes, such as the introduction of bilingual education, the coexistence of French and German as second foreign languages and the digitalization of the learning process in our school. The development of the mentioned changes made us aware of the demand for teacher training in the use of new technologies, the implementation of CLIL methodologies and in teaching foreign languages. Thus, the decision to get involved in this KA101 European project in our eagerness to become a school working in parallel with the schools in the rest of Europe in the field of digital and linguistic competences.
