Objectives

Our main goal was and is to improve the quality of teaching as well as our teaching practice through methodological innovation and permanent teacher training. Likewise, it is important for our center to create a culture of inclusion where all our students can develop their own skills, being accepted and valued in a school where there is good coexistence among all members of the educational community. The fundamental objective of our project was to provide teachers with the opportunity to develop skills related to communication skills in a foreign language, as well as learn about teaching methodologies with more innovative approaches that contribute to improving teaching practice and, consequently, the quality of teaching, attention to diversity and school coexistence. We also considered important to know the organizational and pedagogical development in Europe, from the direct observation of educational realities in foreign countries. In addition, with the mobilities of the project we intended to establish contact with other European teachers, providing our center with greater international openness.

Background

Our school has been characterized, since its foundation, by seeking the comprehensive education of its students, being open to all people without distinction of race, sex, religion or social status and with special attention to the most needy. Our own style of educating is centered on the students, is inserted in the sociocultural environment, applies technological resources and uses innovative methodologies to develop the multiple intelligences of the students. It also encourages the learning of foreign languages by helping students to develop their communicative competence and their intercultural awareness. We have a Diversity Attention Plan and a Reception Plan, with a language reinforcement program. In accordance with this style of educating, methodological innovation and good teaching practices are essential for us to achieve an inclusive and quality education. We believe that permanent training for teachers is important to contribute to their professional development, while at the same time providing an international opening for our center and establishing contacts with teachers from other European countries. For this reason, we requested a project that contemplated all these aspects.
