Objectives

-We have tried to make the Romanian culture known and valued to our educational community, since it is one of the two most rejected, and it was shown in our needs detection research that it was also very unknown to our educational community. -We have also tried to increase tolerance for diversity and inclusion in our educational community. -We have tried to give our staff of teachers the opportunity to acquire knowledge that allows us to provide a better educational response to our immigrant students, who sometimes spend much of their time outdoors. -Disseminate our hispanic culture in other countries of the European Union, such as Greece and Romania, through the Didactic Units that we have tought in our Teaching Periods. -Give our teaching staff the opportunity to participate in International Projects, which allow us to strengthen our European identity ties and improve our teaching practice.

Background

There are about 130 students with educational special needs in our High School. We have an Agreement with the Reception Centre for unnacompanied immigrant minors (MENAs) in the area, to provide schooling for them. It is often difficult for us to plan activities that provide a good learning opportunity for this type of student. We did a research in our High School about the most rejected communities, and the result was that they were the citizens of Eastern countries, mainly Romanians, and those of the Muslim community. Interestingly, our educational community knew almost nothing about Romania and the Muslim culture. We have carried out this Project to make the romanian culture better known and respected in our community , focusing on its positive aspects, breaking prejudices and negative beliefs about these rejected groups. We have also requested a course to help us provide better educational care for our immigrant students. We want to make an Exhibition of commented photographs about Romania, providing information about its culture. We want to improve our respect and tolerance to the cultural and religious minorities in our area.
