The OBJECTIVES set up were: - To ensure that teachers acquire teaching methods that were both an innovative and active approach and that result in an improvement in our bilingual projects. - To promote active teacher participation in the development of our school model through quality training, - To be able to transmit what has been learned and experienced to other members of our school community (other DNL teachers, foreign language teachers) and thereby encourage cooperation. - To establish contacts with teachers from other countries who are involved in projects of similar characteristics to share experiences and develop job-shadowing projects with them and even school exchange partnerships. - To improve the language proficiency of participating teachers. - To provide teachers with the necessary resources to include innovations and methodological improvements in the field of CLIL in the teaching programs of the departments in successive school years - Promote the recognition of the skills acquired by teachers through Europass.
Despite our extensive experience in CLIL teaching, the carrying out a SWOT brought in answers the need to improve and update bilingual projects, with more active and innovative methodologies that make non-linguistic disciplines (DNL) the main driver of the teaching-learning process of a second language. The training of teachers involved in this type of teaching became absolutely necessary to achieve the proposed improvement objectives. With the mobilities and participation in structured courses, better teacher training would mean an increase in the quality of the school projects and the improvement of the academic context of such programmes. As for teachers, participating in a structured course not only led to an improvement in their training and as a result benefited students, but also provides an opportunity to pass on what they have learned to other teachers who participate in bilingual projects and to those who do not yet do so but who in the future could be involved in them (they will be trainers of trainers).
