Objectives

Explore various accessible natural environments suggested by our partners in order to come into contact with natural environments of various kinds such as the sea, mountains, forest, snow or desert in which our partners regularly carry out activities with their special education students, select environments with accessibility, verify the optimal conditions in which our students could participate in future projects, continue making quality contacts with European partners involved in the well-being of students, transferring methodologies and organization from other special needs schools, planning with them the activities that we will carry out with our special needs students and those of the participating schools. We want them to explore the natural world, value, respect and enjoy natural spaces outside their immediate environment. To a lesser extent, encourage the practice of words in foreign languages or, at least, the interest in acquiring communication skills and obtaining information to inform their families, in relation to the possible participation of their children in future projects.Offer our tools, methodologies and knowledge.

Background

In line with the European development plan of the special needs school Santa Rosa de Lima, with this project we have established the bases for further work with our students to help improve their quality of life in different environments, especially those in nature to develop skills and abilities. To this end, we have contacted and visited similar European special education schools, exchanging forms of work planning, organizational functioning, methodologies and accessibility tools for daily homework with special education students through jobshadowing in France and Iceland. Once our partner's environments have been verified, the new challenge is to explore them with our students guided by them, with large experience in this field. Our school is now more committed to conserving the environment and promoting the values of caring for nature. We have contributed to making society aware that disability involves the work of many people who, by innovating, generate opportunities to favor social integration and accessibility from the alternatives offered by the natural world.
