Teachers understand that they are responsibility for providing their students with the tools that will contribute to their integral development, that we are living in a time of change, where the resources they used before are no longer suitable for providing effective responses to the new demands of a global society. The offshoring of work, mobility and digitalisation are already a fact, so they were willing to collaborate in order to achieve common goals and overcome the obstacle posed by the language barrier. The priority lines of action of the Educational Administration go in the direction of making lifelong learning and mobility a reality, improving the quality of education, promoting equity, social cohesion and active citizenship, increasing creativity and innovation at all levels of education (ET2020). This is why it was intended to promote, as a priority, the improvement of the foreign language skills of our teachers (in this case, in English) as a facilitating element that favours internationalisation. This was consolidated with the use of eTwinning, where they exchanged and transferred knowledge and competences related to multilingualism and ICT.
The Ferrol Training and Resource Centre (CFR) organised this consortium formed by 4 schools that shared common characteristics and expectations. These were reflected in their respective SWOT analysis, prepared and presented by each school. The CFR was responsible for the management of this consortium. The participating schools are: -CEIP de Ponzos: 18 teachers and 225 pupils of: Infant Education (EI) and Primary Education (EP). School in which there is only 1 group of students in each grade (called "1-line school" in Spanish). -CEIP of Piñeiros: 19 teachers and 188 students of EI and EP. 1-line school. -CPR Plurilingual Valle Inclán: 23 teachers and 208 students of EI, EP and Secondary Education. 1-line school. -CPR Jorge Juan: 24 teachers and 225 students of EI, EP and E. Secundaria. 1-line school. These schools share in common the fact that they are medium-sized, 1-line schools, located outside the city centre, with scarce resources and that were just starting out in the digital era. These schools are also aware that they have to overcome the language barrier. They have shown their wisdom and initiative to turn this data into an opportunity for improvement.
