The aims of this project were varied. Firstly, we were working to reinforce the European dimension of the IES Afonso X O Sabio. In addition, we tried to promote foreign languages competences and professional skills among our VET students and teachers. Finally, we tried to increase the employability among our students and offer them new training experiences which increase their entrepreneurship.
The project "Professional internship, expanding horizons" comes from previous projects in collaboration with IIS Stendhal. The first one, an scholar KA2 focused on school education dealt with improving conflict resolutions skills as a tool to strengthen our key competences. The people involved in this project were students and teachers of Secondary Education and postsecondary education and to run it we built a partnership of schools which have experience in different fields dealing with conflict resolution. IES Afonso X O Sabio has been working on peer-to-peer mediation for years and IIS Stendhal is a school specialised in a methodology of simulation which can be related to conflict resolution at the work place. For this reason, we understood that approaching this methodology and training would be very useful for our VET students and teachers, moreover when these people have studied our own peer-to-peer mediation methodology, so they could strengthen their professional competences while they are being included in the international projects, so we could insert the VET education of our school into the IES Afonso X O Sabio European projects.
