In principle, we had several objectives when we presented the project: the first and main objective was to provide an internship experience in a European country to basic vocational training students with disabilities with the greatest support needs. Normally people with disabilities have not had the same opportunities as other students. Most of them have not had the opportunity to travel to other European countries. Through this project we wanted the students to have an experience in a foreign country that would add value to their training and personal life. The second objective is to improve the teaching competence of certain professionals by carrying out a "job shadowing" exchange in centers in Finland and Germany. These exchanges have served to reinforce the training of professionals but also to assess different collaboration options between these centers and Gureak.
This project is requested within the framework of the generation of opportunities for people with disabilities in European mobility. Gureak organizes basic professional training adapted for people with intellectual disabilities and mental illness and we believe that it is important that our students have the same opportunities as the rest of the student body to carry out internships in a European country. In addition to people with disabilities, three professionals who work directly in the training and direct care of people with disabilities have also participated in the mobilities.
