Objectives

Regarding students our main aims were: -Improving their chances of getting better jobs. -Reducing dropping out rates. -Increasing their personal, social, and intercultural self-reliance. -Developing their linguistic and digital skills. -Fostering their European sense of belonging. Regarding teachers our main aims were: -Easing teachers’ personal and professional development. -Strengthening bonds with similar schools in EU countries and establishing new ones. -Developing technical and methodological knowledge exchanges among teachers. Besides addressing our students' and teachers’ needs, this project also aimed to get a European perspective into our working procedures, which would allow us to: -Develop our school's strategic approach to bettering our relationships with companies, our quality management processes, internationalization, and spreading TIC/TAC use in our learning community. -Implementation of new methods of teaching-learning, such as CLIL or PBL, which also favour multilingualism. -Continue the implementation of the English Language in VET studies. -Internationalization of our school job bank.

Background

Institut Pedraforca is a high school located in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). Currently, it has 108 teachers and 1100 students, 80% of whom come from abroad. We offer ESO, Bachillerato, PFI-PIP, FP Básica and vocational studies of Health, Transportation and Automotive and Personal Image branches. In our vocational studies, we offer an added value in companies’ placements. For this reason, we have joined different programmes, such as Catskills, Dual vocational training, InnovaFP, and EnprènFP. We firmly support internationalization, which is the main reason why we have developed our own Erasmus+, GEP (Generació Plurilingüe), Etwinning, FP&EOI Together and “Impulso a las lenguas extranjeras en la FP” and ”Acreditación en lenguas extranjeras” programmes. European mobility programmes are an excellent chance for our students to broaden their formative experiences and their professional qualification, while developing their linguistic and social skills, all of which is paramount in a socioeconomic environment which hinders job opportunities. In the process, we improve teachers’ engagement in our internationalization programme and foster exchanges of good practices among European schools.
