Background

The General Directorate of Vocational Training of the Department of Culture, Education, VET and Universities of Galicia, based in Santiago de Compostela, manages 220 educational centers with vocational training and a total of 1,204 educational centers throughout Galicia. The FP International Programs Consultancy manages the promotion, coordination and management of European projects in which Galician centers participate. 50 educational centers participate in the project: 19 Integrated Vocational Training Centers (CIFP) and 31 Secondary Education Institutes (IES), with a coordinator of international programs. To spread European culture and the new Erasmus + program among the educational centers of Galicia, taking advantage of the experience of the International Programs Advisory and the coordinators of international programs of the CIFP and IES, we intend that the management teams and teachers are interested in learn how European projects are coordinated and managed and be able in the future to prepare and present mobility projects of their own or in coordination with other centers in their geographical area, or other ones that share professional families. The mobility of students and staff is an important objective of the Galician FP. In the new vocational training plan, the promotion of the exchange of experiences of Galician students and teachers abroad, as well as publicizing the practices of Galician centers abroad, appears as a specific objective of the internationalization axis. The project has been an instrument for the consolidation of the mobilities of the network of CIFPs and IES of Galicia. It has made it possible to facilitate the incorporation of new centers to the internationalization of VET, as well as the improvement of knowledge and ERASMUS+ possibilities in the participating centres. It has been and still is an undoubted way to improve internationalization in the centres, either as a means of entry or as a complement to the centre's own project or projects. By forming part of a network of centers, collaboration between the coordinators is reinforced and has allowed teamwork and the improvement of the skills of each center team (not only the coordinator, but also the management team, counsellors, FCT coordinators, in general, the entire center team involved in the process of internationalizing VET). The project has favored making VET a more attractive, relevant and excellent option. It has trained students to compete in an international job market as well as its undoubted improvement in their language skills. A key principle taken into account in the application has been inclusion, promoting diversity and equal opportunities for all applicants.
