Background

This project arose from the needs detected as a result of the participation in the eTwinning project: Be sm@rt, be s@fe. A group of students of the educational plan: Basic use of languages, promoted by one of the teachers of the center, actively participated in this project. During the implementation of this project, two important shortcomings were detected with respect to the students: on the one hand, low digital competence and, on the other, reduced awareness of the risks involved in the Internet. On the other hand, some teachers of the institution decided not to participate in this project due to their low digital competence. At the meeting, convened by the head of studies delegate of SEP Salobreña on January 9, 2019, the teaching team conducted a thorough analysis of the needs of the institution and how these would be addressed in the European Development Plan. The outcome of this analysis led us directly to a pressing need of the institution: The development of the digital competence of the teaching staff as well as developing among the educational community the culture of responsible and safe use of ICT.
