Social Seed has designed a new incubation methodology for people at risk of exclusion who want to become entrepreneurs and be supported by companies. This project has validated what this hybrid model of collaboration between NGOs and companies should be like, analysing best practices and training content through the incubation of 15 entrepreneurs. Initially, ACV received more than 200 applications, and finally selected 15 based on criteria that will be explained below. This new methodology, which will help to solve two of the European Union's most important problems: the lack of employment and the situation of 83 million people at risk of exclusion, has also been made available to NGOs and administrations in Europe. Its aim is to create a hybrid model of collaboration between social entities, companies, managers and people at risk of exclusion, which is absolutely necessary to reduce the effects of the aforementioned disasters. A model that can be a tool for change for all professionals of social entities in Europe, who work in entrepreneurship with groups at risk of social exclusion, developing a new design of social incubator in which social entities participate and collaborate with companies, and people at risk of exclusion with professionals from the business world. The aim is to co-create a new tool for social entrepreneurship with 4 axes: NGOs, companies, vulnerable groups and professionals.
As all reports indicate, there are large pockets of unemployment and poverty in the European Union today. According to almost all forecasts, the change of economic model, from industrial to digital, will not help to generate more employment than was previously the case. For this reason, entrepreneurship is revealed in many cases as one of the ways out of unemployment. In this project, have considered this problem by also focusing on those people who have greater difficulties in overcoming unemployment due to their lack of training, economic, material, emotional, etc. In 2010, the European Union set five ambitious targets for 2020 in the areas of employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and climate/energy. In each of these areas, each country set its own targets. Specifically, in the area of social inclusion, Spain's target for 2020 is to reduce the number of people at risk of poverty and/or social exclusion by 1.4 million. Currently, 12.3 million people in Spain (26.6% of the population) are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Recent years show a downward trend, but despite this, the figures are still remarkably high. The reports also shows that among the unemployed, the risk of social exclusion is 59.1%, reflecting the importance of employment. In view of the above, Spain is not fulfilling its commitment to achieve the social inclusion objectives specified in the European 2020 Strategy. But if the results and the evolution of these indicators in Spain can be considered a failure, those of the rest of the European Union countries are no less satisfactory. That is why this project has been carried out at a transnational level, because the problems, like the solutions, are shared. We are at a key moment in which the knowledge economy offers new opportunities for prosperity, in which the countries of Europe are providing new models of development based on inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Furthermore, the promotion of entrepreneurship is a determining factor as a transversal element in the training of people capable of joining the dynamics of socio-economic development in a Europe with profound needs for change.
