We need to strengthen children’s and students’ critical thinking and media literacy, so they can judge and overcome the ever-present threats of fake news, cyber bullying, radicalisation, cybersecurity threats and fraud (COM2018) The pace of change will be so rapid that students will learn ‘in the moment using new technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality. The ability to gain new knowledge will be more valuable than the knowledge itself. In such new world, the qualifications and knowledge will be relevant, but not sufficiently. The critical thinking, the media literacy and the digital literacy will not be advantages but rather disadvantages for those do not having them. Children in our schools are mass consumers of media. On average, each of them spends 1,500 hours a year watching television. Roughly 98% of our students have Internet access in their homes, and most of them use it daily.According to the latest data, Face book has 1.45 billion users each day, 5 billion videos are uploaded daily on You tube , 800 million are active on Instagram every day. But there is one problem. There are lost in the world of the media because they do not know how to perceive and use them in the right way. Rather, humankind needs to be taught how to process information that is stored through technology. Education needs to be geared toward the handling of data rather than the accumulation of data. This problem with low media literacy knowledge is related to our students from all partner countries according to Media literacy index for 2018 where all partners country have low media literacy index (especially Romania 38%,Turkey 16% an Macedonia 10%) but also the other partners countries too. Our project ”See the world through the eyes of reality " is related to media literacy and its goal is to "awake" students, parents and teachers and bring them back to reality with the help of critical thinking and the proper use of the media through social inclusion. • Developing critical thinking and media literacy by 80% after completion of the project • To return students to real social life. Develop awareness of the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle that are neglected due to Internet addiction for 80% • Reduction the damage from computer games for 80% • Reduction abuse of personal data and profiles on social networks for 80% • To create increased productivity and interest in educational programs for all school subjects in order to reduce the number of students leaving school. • Develop awareness and skills among parents to establish a proper relationship between their children and the media. • Strengthening the educational capacities and skills of media literacy and professional development in a European context Regarding all the planned activities, in order to make the instruction to address the needs of this century( European digital age), we will focus primarily on creativity and will transfer other soft skills through various activities, methods and tasks. Workshops for creating films and preparing films will awaken the creativity of the student.Films will be related to various topics such as cultural heritage, inclusion, empathy, stereotypes and prejudices, school violence. Students will be inclusive, they will develop their own moral values, will become aware of the world around them, Increase human dignity, democracy, equality. Workshops provided during mobility, such as coding, personal data protection, protection against Internet violence, I am a journalist, students will develop skills for proper use of the Internet, identifying false news, spreading hate speech, the disadvantages of Internet addiction, the development of educational games, etc. Workshops with parents will awaken their awareness and teach them how to deal with their children when it comes to the media and their use. These activities we will develop awareness and skills among parents to establish a proper relationship between their children and the media. The sports activities envisaged in the project will bring the students together, remove them from the virtual world and socialize them. With activities for teachers in this project we will strength the educational capacities and skills of media literacy and professional development We will encourage all of our students and at the age of 12- 15 to join the project directly in mobilities we will involved 120 students and approximately 100 teachers excluding teachers that travel ,1200 students indirectly, 250 parents Methodology: Presentations, workshops, round tables, studies, monitoring and evaluating activities,project-based learning, teamwork, workshops for parents. Long terms: "Media Literacy Week", International school media literacy program. The impact will be expanded at national and European level in the future as the skills that our students and project participants will acquire in the project will be reflected in their social life.
Our project starts in September 2019 with presenting the project in all partner schools. At the beginning of the project two countries live the partnership (Poland and Turkey). As partners in this project was Macedonia, Romania, Italy and coordinator Spain. We start the project with creating teams that will work on it and share responsibilities between partners in each school. In all partner’s school there was chosen students for mobility and students who will work in additional activities provided in the project. After dropping of our two partners from the project coordinator school decide to take over the mobility that was planned in Poland and did in Spain. So instead seven mobility’s we have six. First transnational meeting in Macedonia, mobility with students and teachers in Spain(twice), in Macedonia, Romania and Italy. All partner’s schools have presentation in the schools and in local community to spread and getting know the purpose and goals of the project. Also we conduct questionnaires among students, teachers and parents about the level of knowledge in Media literacy. Macedonian school made this questionnaire’s’.(they will be attached). The first coordinating partner meeting was held in the elementary school Kuzman Josifoski-Pitu,Kicevo from 21-25 October. First Mobility Report(Kicevo,Macedonia) In addition to the coordination meetings at this meeting, teachers from the partner countries were trained to implement the project in their schools. The training was conducted by Mihajlo Lahtov (media literacy expert). Teachers received training in the following areas: Media Impact, Media Literacy and Critical Thinking, Internet Security and Internet Addiction. At the meetings, teachers discussed assignments for each partner, agreed on workshops with parents, the Media Literacy Program, and other activities related to project implementation. On the last working day, mobility was evaluated and certificates were given by the host school. A twinning workshop was conducted and the five-day project partners&; coordination meeting ended. After the transnational meeting all partner’s countries made dissemination in their schools. (Report; Photo and video material; Facebook profile of the school; eTwinning portal;) In December we have Call for the competition on a school level; Photos; Presenting logo ideas on the school Erasmus board corner. After that we have on twinspace wooting for the logo of the project and we choose the logo from italian students.Coordinator school eas lead this activity. Games for students that will help in socialization and reducing internet addiction of the students was held in each school partners.(Photos on fb page of the schools and e Twinning) C2 Short-term exchanges of groups of pupils January 2019 "I’m journalist" Craiova, Romania was second and last mobility blended with students and teachers. Unfortunately, pandemic came and our third mobility which was planned for Spain was canceled (some of the countries bye plane tickets and didn’t receive money back after cancelation) Activity from C2 The workshop ’Let's play reporter’ international conference The workshop “My country seen on the Internet”. (products and pictures are available at Twin space and fb of the Romanian school ) In Italy was implemented Week of codding because Italy have the main task for the video game that students was planned to make (unfortunately we didn’t get this product because of canceling mobility there and the whole project) Span was implemented workshops for parents. This was all that we implemented for the time of several mounts starting from September and end in March 2020.In meantime we have several online meeting for making agreement how we will continue the project and unfortunately because we didn’t see the way how we will achieve our goals online (because there is absolutely need of direct interaction and some of the schools are working online from march 2020 until now) we decide do finish the project. But we try to achieve some of our goals, at least we know where is the problem with parents and students and because we made draft version of our planed Media literacy program we decide to use it and work in each school when all this with pandemic will be over. For several mounts of work, we think we do a lot for awaking our students and start to teach them about Media literacy. From March until September teachers were working and made a draft program for the preparation of an International Media Literacy Program (proposal workshops, methods and good practices of already implemented activities in our schools related to media literacy).
