The project “Where is myself-power? facilitating youth empowerment" is a Seminar to address youth empowerment and self-awareness. It will take place from 10 to 17 of june 2019, for 8 days, in the city of Zarautz (Basque Country, Spain) and will gather 33 participants from 11 different countries. We will work in order to youth workers or youth leaders acquire techniques and methodologies to facilitate the own self exploration of our target group of youngsters and help in their self development. In this way, we will develop different skills while being aware of the importance and value of the empowerment process. After analyzing the social context and exploring the needs of the young people in general, we realized that these are perfectly related to the main themes of the project. For the society in which we live and the educational system we have, generally people do not have a very broad self-knowledge and we do not usually spend much time to get to know ourselves, to explore our desires, abilities and dreams, and largely because of our rhythm of life. Thus, young people are usually a clear example of this. They reach the critical stage of youth and do not know what they want to do with their lives because do not know very well their knowledge and desires nor do they have sufficient confidence in themselves. Thanks to this seminar, we are going to work in the origin, in oneself: self-knowledge, self-esteem, self-confidence... Personal empowerment consists in the appropriation of our individual power. Therefore, first you need an analysis of yourself, a self-knowledge. It is based on personal trust and confidence. It represents the ability that each one of us has in controlling our lives, the knowledge of the power we have to change things and decide about our lives in a conscious way. In addition, these values serve to make the youth more aware, critical, awake, with confidence, initiative and connected to each other. After all, to be active subjects in society. Thus, we will see different techniques, methodologies and projects to be able to work with young people and to help developing their empowerment. On the one hand, we will have spaces to be able to exchange good practices and on the other hand, we will put in practice on ourselves some of these methods to reflect us first and then to be able to carry out an outreach with young people in a more effective and comprehensive way. At the end, based on everything learned and experienced during the activities and taking into account our interests and abilities, we will perform small projects as an example to be able to carry it out later with our target groups in different contexts. The objectives of this experiential project are: - Raise awareness about the importance and value of the youth empowerment. - Promote the self-knowledge, self-confidence and self-esteem as an educative topic on the field of non formal education on youth work. - Learn and exchange different and new techniques, methodologies and projects to work with youngster in their self development. - Develop different skills and abilities in the participants as: creativity, initiative, organization, social skills, as well as digital skills. - Encourage and promote reflection on the competence development of youth workers within the ERASMUS + program.
