Objectives

Following the statistics available from the political debates and documents of the Institutions of European Union, the involvement of the European youth in the democratic processes is minimal. Youth are lacking the knowledge about how to get involved in the policy processes for the youth at National and European level and how to ensure that their rights are respected in National and European policies. Young people also lacks practical skills in communication and cooperation with decision makers. And finally, youth are lacking the strategies that will help them to follow the implementation of the decisions made at European Institutions or at National level, e.g. National Youth Councils, that affects youth. Statistics by the European Commission on youth participation in democratic life, stating that participation of young people all over Europe in political organizations or parties from 15-30 years are at 7%, from the age of 15-19 even lower level of participation at 4-5%. Youth participation level in elections are relatively low with 43% on a national level, 31% on a regional level and 44% on a local level, those numbers are still worth improving, especially when regarding the level of participation of excluded focus groups (through poverty, unemployment, linguistic, ethnic or social integration,etc.). The latest statistics by the European Commission confirmed, that the awareness about election mechanisms within the EU regarding young people was relatively low at 47%, evolving from that, we can perceive a low participation level in the European elections. Following the process of Structured Dialogue last year and recognizing the importance of proposing new 11 Youth Goals as new EU Youth Strategy, Councils of Ministers for Youth Conclusions at the EU Youth Policy from May 2018 and speech of Jean Claude Juncker on the State of the European Union from September 2018, we will offer to the European youth new skills and knowledge, that we gained through the years of experience in defending the human rights and dignity at the European institutions and working with youth at European and National levels. Through the 5 day training new youth workers of 7 organisations will be led by experienced trainers, meet relevant documents of the European Union and learn how to react critically to political decisions that are relevant to the youth. They will learn how to use digital tools of video filming and use the opportunities to speak to media to raise awareness among the youth and relevant stakeholders regarding the need of youth activity and getting involved in youth policy processes. Three main objectives of the project are: - To develop knowledge among 28 new youth workers about the Human Rights from the most relevant documents for the European Youth, like new 11 EU Youth Goals or European Youth Strategy - To empower 28 youth workers for critical writing and defending Human Rights, to develop media literacy and digital skills of filming short videos in order to become an ambassador for the rights of the youth at the national levels of Europe - To produce 1 strategy that is improving young people’s access to rights at National level of Europe and that helps the youth workers to follow the implementation of the new European Youth Strategy and work of National Youth Councils As a final result, a strategy that will follow the implementation of the European Youth Strategy and Work of the National Youth Councils, will be made by participants and presented in the dissemination part to the relevant stakeholders at the National level. This strategy will help the youth to follow the policy processes for the youth and track the opportunities for advocating for the needs of European Youth.
